Hmm, that looks good. What is that? It's the Matcha Rose Latte. What are you drinking? It's called the Ocean Latte, I'm Melissa by the way. Melissa, Meredith. So, what else is there to do around here? Oh, there's a lot to do. This is my neighborhood, I live right next door. Oh nice. Yeah, I also work for the city, so I can show you around if you want. Do you want to go see? I would love to. Let's go. This is stunning. How long has this been here? You know, this is a mural that used to be on our municipal auditorium downtown, which doesn't exist anymore, and so it got moved here as the anchor to the promenade. It was just restored, and the title of it is Recreation in Long Beach. Kind of fun to think about what Long Beach used to mean. This is the promenade, and it will take you all the way down to the water and to the convention center. This is really flanked by some really great restaurants, and so I think this is the place where people come, they can get really good beer. We are really well known for our beer here in Long Beach, in addition to coffee. Tonight, one Saturday a month, they have Downtown Long Beach Live. So this is going to be filled, bumper and just shoulder to shoulder. So is the city always trying to innovate and create, bringing people in and keeping locals happy? We have some great partners. So there is a business improvement district in this area. And they'll do things like this, right, where they have the little dog stations for people. And so this is a really great kind of public-private partnership. So what's next for us? We're going to actually head that way. So this is the fairly new Civic Center. What are some of the services that it provides? This is really where our community can come and get most of the services that the city offers. So on a number of floors you can apply for a business license, you can get a permit, you can a passport. This is a relatively new building. It was built and opened in 2019 and we all moved here from across the street because the old building unfortunately was not seismically safe. There's an artsy map over here. We really wanted to showcase all of the neighborhoods in our community as a part of our new civic center to make it feel inclusive and like people belong here where are we and where are we headed we are headed uh right here it's gonna be a really nice morning out there so let's get going to that long beach is the city of parks yeah this has to be a signature with the lighthouse absolutely yeah we have 169 parks and this is a really great spot where people come and they you know take pictures you know they'll have like prom pictures here people you know have proposals here You know, we have one of the largest municipal marinas that is right here. We have the Aquarium of the Pacific that's actually right behind us. And then the RMS Queen Mary. It's such a great spot. It's been here since the 60s. It's a highlight of our skyline. And, you know, it's one of those things that has really evolved over time while still holding on to its historic nature. It's something we're really proud of, and we have a lot of parties and weddings and events. This has been a wonderful tour. I think my last stop is the Convention Center. Well, it was very nice to meet you. Thanks for coming with me on this tour of Long Beach, and I'll catch you there later. Hi, I'm Melissa. Hi, i'm Jessie with ICMA. Nice to meet You. You look like you know what's going on here. I'm a first time at ICMA, so I just wanted to know what is a must-see that I should get to. Okay, now knowing that it's your first time, that's great because we have a ton of new things going on this year. And rather than talk about it, let me show you. Come on. Let's do it. Thank you. So first up in the collaboration zone, we've got the LBC attendee lounge. And there's a lot going on here that's put on by our host committee. Some Long Beach swag, a DJ. And yeah, you can just connect with folks from Long Beach and kind of learn what's going on in the city and things to do. All right, next up is our ICMA hub. Now, this is your one-stop shop for all things ICMA. You can connect with ICMA staff, learn about membership, learn about our different programs we have going on, maybe get yourself some swag. These, flying off the shelves, we cannot keep them. You can get yourself your own professional headshot and even get a little makeup touch-up beforehand, you know, if you need a little touch-ups. This is something brand new, our ICNA book and swag store. Here you can check out any of our publications, and they'll be delivered right to your door. You can even pick up a LocalGov 250 shirt, complimentary from ICMA. Oh, thank you. It works. And what we're going through now is our Walk of Recognition. So ICMA's credentialing program just had their 25th year anniversary this year. The last step on our Collaboration Zone tour is we've got the Noble Wins over here. and what they're doing is actually taking wind turbines and turning them into park benches like what you see here. All right, what do I want here? Surf mode? I'm riding the wave and I'm taking it. Nice. I think we should take a load off, we've done a lot. This is nice, there's so much to see. There really is and it's just getting started. Thank you.
